Block 6 of IBA 87 featured a circular water concept with a constructed wetland and rainwater pond, but the treatment system failed to achieve the desired purification quality.
The new design transforms the existing cascade roof into a publicly accessible constructed wetland, integrating a restaurant, brewery and drinking water laboratory. Exposed water pipes, a new steel structure and a sawtooth roof make the water cycle visible while combining sustainable water management, communal activities and photovoltaic energy production.
